Andrew Bushell, owner of Marblehead Salt Company, adds a fresh, unboiled mixture of salt water to a pot of boiling salt water on one of six stove tops he has in his saltern. Bushell gathers "salt blooms" from various places along the coast where the combination of tides and water temperature make for idea salt concentrations, and combines them in his saltern for just the right blend to be boiled off and then baked into salt crystals.
