Ken Yuszkus/Staff photo Chemistry and physics professor, Luke Conlin, gives a presentation about astronomy to the Salem State University mentors and high school students before they visited the observatory atop Meier Hall. The mentoring program (with a grant from the Boston Foundation) pairs 15 at-risk Salem High School students with Salem State University students. High schoolers visit Salem State's campus every Monday afternoon for various group activities to acquaint them with campus life, followed by an hour of 1:1 mentoring. Monday the group had the culminating event of the term, at which President John Keenan addressed the group, followed by the astronomy presentation, and a visit to the astronomy observatory in Meier Hall. The program is in it's third year.
