Salem Public Schools fourth-graders visit Essex Tech

Students Isaac Walsh and Margaret O'Sullivan check out tomatoes during a visit by fourth-grade students from the Carlton Innovation School at the Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School in Hathorne to tour greenhouses and hydroponic systems, harvest vegetables, and learn about propagation. Essex Tech has made a commitment to teaching and promoting sustainable farming supported through significant grant funding by the Baker-Polito Administration. The school has also partnered with Tufts University’s New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, an initiative of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
