First grade students read and receive a copy of "Carmela Full of Wishes" by Matt de la Pe–a at Bates Elementary School in Salem. Through a partnership with First Book, The American Federation of Teachers, AFT Massachusetts, the Salem Teachers Union, and the Peabody Federation of Teachers will donate thousands of books to students on the North Shore this weekend.
